Alexander's Andrew De Leon selected to play in Texas All-Star Game

Alexander's Andrew De Leon will be busy on June 15.

The senior pitcher and first baseman was selected to play in the 46th Annual Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All Star Game in Round Rock on June 15, one week after the conclusion of the 2025 baseball season.

He's the first Bulldog to play in the game since Rocco Garza-Gongora in 2022. Last year, Alexander coach Fernando Lemus coached the THSBCA All-Star Game.

De Leon, a lefty committed to Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, has been a force during his senior campaign. As one of the best hurlers in South Texas, De Leon posted a 3-1 record and 1.82 ERA in District 30-6A play. The Bulldogs outright won their 15th district title at 10-2.

At the plate against district opponents, De Leon batted .417 with 15 hits and 11 RBIs in 48 plate appearances. For the regular season, De Leon batted .434 with 36 hits, 10 of which went for extra bases. He drove in 36 runs.

The THSBCA All-Star Game appearance will put a cap on an impressive career at Alexander for De Leon, who was an All-State selection in 2023. During his three years of varsity contribution at Alexander, the Bulldogs are 66-31 overall and 25-7 in district play with two district titles, three bi-district titles and two area titles.

Over the weekend, the Bulldogs won their 16th area title with a series sweep of Harlingen. De Leon pitched four no-hit, shutout innings in Game 1 and had an RBI hit at the plate.
